A microbial metabolite with diverse biological activities; cytotoxic to A549, HeLa, and SW480 cancer cells (IC50s = 32-40 μM); halts the cell cycle at the G1 phase and induces apoptosis in A549 cells; active against Streptomyces bacteria and T. mentagrophytes, E. floccosum, C. albicans, M. audouini, and B. dermatitidis fungi from 12.5 to 50 ppm
