A quorum-sensing signaling molecule that is produced by bacteria in response to increasing cell density; increases tra expression in A. tumefaciens in a reporter cell assay; induces adventitious root formation and increases expression of AUX22c, AUX22d, CDC2, ARC, and CDPK in mung bean seedlings at 100 nM; decreases expression of glucanase genes in A. thaliana at 6 µM
